JHASW/CHIDC Online Exhibitions

As part of our efforts to increase awareness of the historic Jewish communities in south Wales, we create both physical and virtual exhibitions to make this material available to as wide a public as possible.

Below are the panels we created for our first exhibition, 'The Records and Testimonies of the South Wales Jewish Communities'. Hover over the images and click on the arrows to move between them.

In partnership with Cynon Valley Museum we put together a series of online exhibitions as part of their ‘Stories From the Museum’ and their ‘At Home’ series; you can see these exhibitions here:

Morris Jacobs: A Draper for All.

The Life of Victor Freed.

Merchants and Moneylenders: Popular Jewish Businesses in the Cynon Valley.

A Walking Tour of Aberdare’s Jewish History.

This touring exhibition was conceived as part of our first project, ‘The Records and Testimonies of the South Wales Jewish Communities’. It was designed to be displayed as a series of themed pop-up banners that were exhibited in 14 locations over a 3-month period in 2019; the locations ranged from national venues such as The Senedd and St Fagans National Museum of History, to small local settings such as Tredegar Museum and Pontardawe Library. We created this digital version of the exhibition for those who missed it when it was on tour. The physical exhibition is still available for display – please contact us if you are interested in hosting it.
